About me
Since 1994, Shannon has pursued a career path in Sustainable practices for the PNW from my home base on the Oregon Coast.
She began with pollution control, waste minimization, and environmental remediation with Weyerhaeuser Company's corporate office of the Environment, and then as the North Bend Papermill Environmental Director. In 1999, Shannon opened her first company, Souza Environmental, and shifted her focus to water supply management, water rights, and habitat restoration. Since 2003, she has been heavily engaged in renewable energy and energy conservation, emphasizing solar energy systems, and learning (through trial and error) the joys of being a contractor and employer with Sol Coast Companies. In 2009, Shannon reentered stormwater management via Low Impact Development, and in 2012, began Net Zero Energy home and office design work as a LEED AP.
Since 2018, her work on renewable energy and clean fuels has expanded into policy, regulation, large-scale projects, and infrastructure development. She complements her energy resilience planning and renewable hydrogen hub development in emergent host communities with service on the State Energy Strategy Advisory and the Northwest Power Planning Council's Committees for Generating Resources, Fuels, and Systems Analysis. Shannon has been a board director for Oregon's Solar & Storage Industry Association since 2018, and is a founding board director and president for Oregon Coast Energy Alliance Network, and served on Gov. Brown's Resilience Advisor Council.
Shannon enjoys regular public speaking opportunities, working with others to increase the resiliency and capacity of rural communities to thrive, investing her time and skills in our public school system, and enjoying natural resources and artistic talents with her friends and family.
