Sara has been teaching renewable energy courses at Clackamas Community College since January, but prior to that, she designed residential and commercial solar systems for clients all over the US since about 2017. In addition to preparing solar plans, she’s worn many other hats in solar, including Sales Rep, Installer, Site Technician, Engineering Manager, and Operations Manager.
Originally allergic to both electrical calculations and AutoCAD, she overcame her hatred of the software and learned enough to draw rectangles on top of other rectangles, and she’s attended enough of these OSSIA code classes to understand the electrical calculations that go into PV plan design. In 2024, she earned the NABCEP PVIP certification, and now that there’s a new certification that is EVEN MORE DIFFICULT, she’ll be attempting the ESIP exam as soon as she can get through the coursework. As the new Renewable Energy Instructor at CCC, she has discovered that there’s a whole world of renewables outside of PV, and has a long list of additional certifications to chase after.
